History was written after an exciting final at the FIFAe Continental Cup 2020 as Purple Mood esport were crowned the inaugural FIFAe Continental Champion. The team consisting of ‘PLMxTANTAY’, ‘PLMxBRIGHT777’ and ‘PLMxBAS69’ showcased their consistency throughout the group stage, the knockout stage and the finals and emerged victorious against 15 other FIFA Online 4 teams from China PR, Vietnam, Korea Republic and Thailand.

The team earned ultimate glory and USD 100,000 in prize money by winning the FIFAe Continental Cup 2020 for the first time.

Earlier this year, FIFA introduced the FIFAe Continental Cup to cater to the millions of passionate FIFA Online 4 players and to create a new stage for the most talented players and teams in the region.

“As we are continuously looking for new and exciting ways to engage with the global FIFAe community, we are grateful to host such a competition despite the challenging circumstances. The incredible passion shown by the competitors and fans made the event a special occasion in these times,” said Adrian Rölli, Head of eFootball at FIFA.

“Congratulations to Purple Mood Esport who played at an exceptional level in the most competitive field of participants. The team truly deserves the brightest spotlight backed by millions of amazing fans who tuned in during the event.”

“We are excited to see the hard work of our competitors throughout a very challenging season come to fruition in such spectacular fashion, in the largest FIFA Online 4 competition to date,” said Piotr Pilich, Deputy Commissioner of FIFA Online 4 at EA.

At the beginning of the tournament, 16 teams who qualified by claiming points throughout the season, competed in a group stage for their place in the knockout stage. Only eight advanced and were narrowed down to the best two teams who faced each other in a “winner stays best-of-five” format in a spectacular final.

The FIFAe Continental Cup concluded the 2019/2020 FIFA Online 4 Season with the first-ever FIFAe Continental Champion being crowned on 20 December. Information about the next season will be released in early 2021.
